The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) established the Office for Interdisciplinary Earth Studies (OIES) in Boulder, CO in 1986. OIES was charged with facilitating research between Earth Science disciplines via scientific workshops, the publication of reports, and the newsletter, EarthQuest. INI produced many issues of EarthQuest between 1987-92.
